On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, PT Summarecon Agung Tbk. (Summarecon) began construction of Al Azhar Summarecon Nusantara Islamic School in the Capital City of Nusantara (IKN) through a Groundbreaking ceremony held at Public Service Facilities Sub Zone (SPU) 1. The button pressing ceremony was led directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Joko Widodo together with the President Director of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk, Adrianto P. Adhi, Director of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk, Herman Nagaria and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Syiar Bangsa Foundation, H. Edi Darnadi and accompanied by the ranks of Ministers of the Kabinet Indonesia Maju.

Occupying an area of 2.9 hectares, Al Azhar Summarecon Nusantara Islamic School will provide education levels from elementary school, junior high school, and high school. This school will be a modern building with an environmental awareness that will later be equipped with sports facilities, laboratories, and a multipurpose building. The school building takes the concept of a stilt house with the interior of the building carrying a sustainability concept. Presenting various natural elements such as stone, water, and trees that function as passive cooling for the building so that teaching and learning activities will be more comfortable.

The presence of the Al Azhar Summarecon Nusantara Islamic School is a form of Summarecon's support for the government's program, especially in the development of the Capital City of Nusantara (IKN), and is also a commitment from Summarecon to advance education in the country. The construction of the Al Azhar Summarecon Nusantara Islamic School, which is the 5th school, will soon begin construction and is expected to start teaching and learning activities in the 2025/2026 school year. After that, construction of phase 2 will immediately begin to start teaching and learning activities in the 2026/2027 school year.
